Artists
Omar Apollo

Omar Apollo is one of music’s most exciting shape-shifters. As the 24-year-old Latin GRAMMY-nominated singer/songwriter prepares his debut album, he's holding close to music that feels inventive, experimental, and true to his wide-ranging passion. R&B remains the foundation, but Apollo is branching out with a bilingual fusion of funk, pop, electronic, hip-hop, reggaéton, corridos—as he puts it, “everything.” Apollo’ has had a transformative but linear journey, from listening to Brandy and Stevie Wonder as a kid, to plucking away at a guitar at as a pre-teen, to self-releasing a pair of EPs as a young man—2018’s Stereo and 2019’s Friends—that established his signature “bedroom soul” and earned him love from fans and press (Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, The FADER, et al.). As unique as his sound is, Apollo has garnered as much attention for his lyrics—themes of romantic yearning and self-improvement swirled up with expressions of cultural heritage and identity. Now, he’s leaning even more into all of it, making music that feels closer to his heart than ever. In 2020, he released his unapologetically open-hearted mixtape Apolonio which featured fan favorite “Want U Around” and showed the artist foreshadowing (could just say “foreshadowed what’s to come next from Apollo musically”) what’s to come next from him musically. To celebrate Apolonio's release, Apollo performed a livestream concert from Paisley Park, the legendary residence of one of his heroes, Prince. The year 2021 proved to be a productive one for Omar as he put the finishing touches on his debut LP and unveiled a new era of music with the release of two singles, “Go Away” and “Bad Life” featuring Kali Uchis. Apollo closed out the year on a high note receiving his first Latin GRAMMY nomination for his collaboration “Te Olvidaste“ with C Tangana. Approaching his forthcoming album, the artist who once called himself “just a kid from Indiana” is breaking new ground, abandoning all comfort zones, and never looking back.

Deb Never

In addition to collaborating with artists like BROCKHAMPTON and Lava La Rue, songwriter/vocalist Deb Never makes bedroom pop of her own that can draw on everything from '90s rave influences to emo-rap atmospheres, sometimes within the space of a single song. After releasing a series of various tracks and demos online, Never's debut EP, House on Wheels, arrived in 2019.
Never was born in Spokane, Washington, and later moved to Los Angeles, where she worked as a session guitarist. By 2017, she began posting demos of solo songs online, sometimes using the Deb Never moniker and sometimes going just as Never. A 2018 collaboration with producer D33J was her first public work with the WeDidIt Records collective, which would sign her on the next year. In 2019, in addition to featuring on the BROCKHAMPTON song "No Halo" and occasionally performing live with the group, Never released debut EP House on Wheels, a collection of moody downtempo songs and light trap-pop rhythms. A remix of the House on Wheels track "Same" featuring Tommy Genesis was issued shortly after the EP, and in March 2020, Never collaborated with Kenny Beats on the song "Stone Cold." In May 2020, Never released the Intermission mixtape, a collection of songs recorded during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, the new song "Someone Else" surfaced, moving in a direction that combined melodies reminiscent of early Radiohead with stretches of drum'n'bass rhythms. ~ Fred Thomas

Niko Rubio
When creating her debut project, 21-year-old singer/songwriter Niko Rubio found a never-ending muse in the Pacific Coast Highway: the iconic stretch of road that runs along the ocean for nearly the entire length of California, including the Southern California South Bay area where she grew up. Expansive and euphoric, Niko's radiant form of songwriting perfectly echoes the pure sense of possibility that accompanies driving down the PCH, all while channeling the intense emotion typical of any Pisces. The result is an immediately absorbing collection of songs, introducing the 20-year-old artist as an undeniable new voice with a highly original vision.
